Enter ‘The Wizarding World’ at Science on the Rocks

Discovery Place Science

CHARLOTTE – Wizardry and wonder will soon fill the air as Discovery Place Science hosts an adults-only, magical evening at the Museum, featuring the all-new exhibition, Bug Lab.

Guests to this month’s Science on the Rocks event will mingle with wizards and fantastic creatures, all while trying the many spellbinding activities set to take place. Try a taste of liquid nitrogen butterbeer straight from Hogsmeade, concoct edible potions, meet fantastic beasts – from Mangrove Monitors to Thorny Devil Insects – and much more at ‘The Wizarding World Fantastic Bugs and Where to Find Them.’

The event takes place Friday, January 18, from 5-9 p.m. at Discovery Place Science. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Guests must be 21 or older.

For an additional $3, step into the fantasy realm of Bug Lab. The larger-than-life bug exhibition was created by New Zealand’s world-famous museum Te Papa, working with five-time Academy Award-winning design and manufacture studio Weta Workshop, the studio behind the design and physical effects for “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

Complete the evening by getting to know the fantastic bugs living right under our noses in the IMAX film, Backyard Wilderness. Tickets to the 7 p.m. showing of the film, which documents a stunning array of unique wildlife imagery and behavior, cost $5 each.
