From favorite festive traditions to Star Wars celebrations, explore seasonal science with special hands-on programming every day during Winter Break

Winter Break is right around the corner! Keep everyone busy and with two full weeks of seasonal science and family fun!

Starting Saturday, December 16, join Discovery Place Science for a special Hands-On Holiday featuring programs and activities every day through Tuesday, January 2. There is something fun for everyone:

• Deck The Halls with KidScience: Little explorers ages 7 and younger can celebrate the season with a special Early Childhood activity every day. From making holiday cards to testing winter experiments with icicles and instant snow, stop by KidScience each morning 10:00 a.m. – noon for some festive fun! (Sunday activities will take place from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m.)

• Hands-On Holiday: Guests of all ages can participate in seasonal science fun with daily make projects every afternoon at Discovery Place Science. You could embark on an arctic animal exploration in the Explore More Collections lab, or try your hand at one of the holiday design challenges. From making your own Cocoa Coasters to partaking in a catapult snow ball fight, there is something new every day! Check the Discovery Place Science calendar for the daily schedule. (Activities range from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.)

• Travel to a Galaxy Far, Far Away: For your favorite Star Wars fan, give them a holiday that’s out of this world. Whether you’re on the Jedi nice list or the naughty list with the Empire, Discovery Place Science has a galactic adventure for fans of all ages with Taun Taun Dissections, sphero droid races, a special Sub Zero show featuring samplings of Yoda Soda, and showings of the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi in the IMAX® Dome Theatre. Then stop by Shop Science to pick up your favorite Star Wars merchandise for your favorite Star Wars fan. Star Wars holiday activities will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays during Winter Break. Showtimes and tickets to ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ are available here. Tickets are not included with Museum admission: $15 for adults, $13 for seniors (60+) and $12 for children. Members of Discovery Place Science receive $2 off tickets.

A Hands-On Holiday begins Saturday, December 16 and runs through Tuesday, January 2. All Discovery Place museums are closed Sunday, December 24 & Saturday, 25. Discovery Place Science will extend its hours Tuesday, December 26 – Friday, December 29 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. for Winter Break.

All activities, excluding IMAX, are included with Museum admission. Admission to Discovery Place Science is $17 for adults (14-59); $13 for children (2-13); $15 for seniors (60+); and free for Discovery Place Science Members and children younger than 2, plus tax. Add an IMAX for only $5 more (excluding Star Wars). Discounts are available for groups of 15 or more. Children age 13 and younger must be accompanied by an adult while in the Museum.
