Touch A Truck Small

HUNTERSVILLE – Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville is helping put kids in the driver’s seat – literally – of all the fun this month as the Museum teams up with Central Piedmont Community College to offer its second annual Touch A Truck festival on Saturday, April 27.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Central Piedmont Merancas campus, kids and their families can attend the free community event to see, touch and climb in all kinds of trucks, cars and specialty vehicles – from 18-wheelers and construction vehicles to fire trucks and police cruisers. Other showstoppers include a bomb squad truck and a Tesla.

Discovery Place Kids educators will be on site to guide children through the science of trucks with hands-on, interactive STEM activities that incorporate components such as Makey-Makey Circuit Challenges, Snap on Gears, Friction Frenzy and more.

The fun continues with a DJ providing musical entertainment and several hands-on STEM activities taking place along with a bounce house and other family activities. Refreshments will be provided for a voluntary donation (while supplies last). Proceeds will benefit Central Piedmont’s Transportation System Technologies students attending a trade event later this year.

Touch A Truck is part of Family Day on the Merancas Campus, home to Central Piedmont’s Public Safety and Transportation programs. Tours of the campus will be available throughout the event. The Merancas Campus is located at 11636 Verhoeff Drive, Huntersville. Admission is free, and free parking is available at the Huntersville Athletic Park, 11720 Verhoeff Drive, Huntersville.
