Discovery Place Science

Superpower Dogs Halo Square

CHARLOTTE – The latest documentary film to arrive at the IMAX® Dome Theatre at Discovery Place Science invites guests to join an immersive adventure and experience the life-saving superpowers and extraordinary bravery of some of the world’s most amazing dogs.

Superpower Dogs, narrated by actor Chris Evans (Captain America: The First Avenger, Gifted), is the inspiring true story of man’s best friend as real-life superhero. The film journeys around the globe to introduce movie-goers to six remarkable dogs and their human partners as they brave earthquakes and avalanches, protect endangered species and transform the lives of people with special needs.

“I am really happy to be part of Superpower Dogs,” Evans said. “I am a proud dog owner and completely understand the connection that humans have with these remarkable animals. I love the way this film highlights incredible working dogs who utilize their real-life superpowers to help and protect people.”

Throughout the film, audiences will discover the incredible abilities of dogs and the astonishing science behind their superpowers. They’ll meet four-legged phenoms like Halo, a rookie puppy training to join one of the most elite disaster response teams in America; and Reef, a Newfoundland lifeguard in the Italian Coast Guard. By the end of the film, viewers will never look at dogs the same way again!

Brought to you by IMAX Corporation, Cosmic Picture and presenting sponsor Mars Petcare, Superpower Dogs begins showing at Discovery Place Science on Saturday, June 29.

The opening day of the film will also include a Dog Day of Summer celebration at the Museum. Everyone is invited to come out and meet some of Charlotte’s very own canine heroes at the event. Various North Carolina organizations will be on hand with their own superpower dogs, including Southeastern Guide Dogs, the Linville Central Rescue Squad K9 Team, the Humane Society of Charlotte and more. The film will play at various times throughout the event.

IMAX tickets are $10 for adults and $9 for children (2-13) and seniors (60 and up). When combined with Museum admission, IMAX tickets are just $5 for all ages. Showtimes and more information can be found here.
